A Great Tigers Run
It has taken a full season to write this blog. Over the last 12 years, my son has played for many teams, but none so rewarding as the 2016 NORTHPORT VARSITY TIGERS Team. It has been over 30 years since the Tigers had a team that brought them all the way to the last final game. Winner goes to the County Final. The loss of that last game against West Islip was a complete heart breaker. A loss by 1 run, in the bottom of the 7th.
Re-cap: Captain Joe Stockman at the plate, smashes one into right center, with two men on. The right fielder from West Islip made an incredible catch. One of those once in a life time catches, that put the final swing into our 2016 Season. We will always remember that game, the playoffs that brought us there, and our Coaches, John DeMartini, Sean Lynch, Jim DeRosa and Matt Lertora. Through these men, they enabled a group of fine athletes to become one. One for Northport High School.
On March 6th, the birth of our new Varsity Tigers', begin. With hopes and dreams of reaching our goal of a Suffolk County Championship. To all who supported us, #TheObserver, #Newsday, #Cablevision, #Fios1, #AxcessBaseball, family, friends, fans and photographers, who took time out of their busy schedule to root for our home team.
